My career as a landlord began in a small way in 1992. We had lived in a home on a one-acre lot
in Wildomar, California since 1987. After a few years, we decided it might be a good idea to add a rental
to our property since there was plenty of room and we weren't using it for any other purpose. In April,
1992, after six months working with the county planning department, we erected a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom Fleetwood manufactured
home on the back of our property and have been renting it out ever since. In September of that year, we purchased
another manufactured home on its own lot in a community known as The Farm. In the years that followed, we acquired
several other properties, and in 2002, I retired as a landscaping contractor because landlording had become a full-time occupation. I
now own and manage 16 rentals. I must be crazy.
It helps to have a sense of humor in this business. Evicting tenants is one of my least favorite duties,
but a necessary one nonetheless. I have invented a new form of vocabulary to fit these circumstances: in an eviction,
I am the "evictor", the tenant being evicted is the "evictee", and the house from which they are being evicted is the "evictament".
I was born in Monterey Park, California on August 17, 1949 and lived in southern
California most of my life. In 1956, my family moved to Oroville, California about 60 miles north of Sacramento.
I attended Eastside Elementary School in the second grade with Mrs. Joyce Walsh as teacher for the '56 - '57 school year.
The following year, we returned to southern california, settling in Arcadia. I graduated from Arcadia
High School in 1967 and Pasadena City College in 1969. In 1973, I attended Truckmaster School of Trucking (does
anyone remember Wally Thor?), and spent the next 14 years driving a big rig. In 1987, we moved to Wildomar, California.
In 1992 I obtained a landscaping contractor's license and spent the next 10 years installing sprinklers and sod for the
plethora of new homes in our surrounding area. I have been married to my wife Linda since September 27, 1975.
We have two children. Our daughter Angela is a registered nurse and lives in Menifee. She is divorced and
has two sons, Gabriel age 8 and Matthew age 6. Our son Ron raises exotic birds.

What a costume!
In 1955 when I was 6 years old, I appeared as a guest, along with my two
older brothers and younger sister, on the TV show "Captain Jet". Bill Hollingsworth (aka Bill Holly) was the host.
He hosted several other kids' shows and is pictured here as The Great Zolar.
